What is KOLOLO Method?

The Kololo Method is the general term for the educational training program which Mr.Hijiri Ishii developed for autistic people.

Everything in this method is based on practice.
The theory is based on the brain stratum structure.

Contents of Educational Treatment

Pre-schoolchildren’s Course

This course is for the pre-school age children.


(1) Full Time/Every day Course(Tue. – Sat.)
(2) 1 Day Course(Available on Wed. – Sat.)
* Time and Day may differ depending on the schedule of Kololo branches.


◎ This course provides early intervension programs based on the Kololo Methods such as Rhythm exercise, Hand games, Walking/Eating/Leraning/and Behavior Training.
◎ The children will be helped/supported to develop their adaptability into the society.

Aims of Early Intervension

  • 1.For acquiring independent walking style
    Establish appropriate walking style and encourage purposeful use of hands and legs.
  • 2.For cultivating ‘Sit and Focus’ Ability
    Develop sitting and keep focusing ability by using attention catching visual materials and encourage to improve imitating ability.
  • 3.For controlling Biorythm
    Help control biorythm by providing physical exercises and academic activities during the day time and make them to have a good night sleep.
  • 4.For acquiring appropriate eating behavior
    Improve an unbalanced diet and help acquire appropriate eating behavior.
  • 5.For acquiring language & concept of social life
    Provide Kololo original language learning programs which help develop children’s speaking, voluntary speech and inner language. By improving appropriate learning attitudes, prevent occuring behavioral problems.

Free-school Course

This course is for the 1st graders of primary school and up.


(1) Full Time/ Every day course(Tue.- Sat. 5 days/week.)
(2) 1 Day course (Available fromTuesday to Friday.)
* Time and Day may differ depending on the schedule of Kololo branches.


This course provides ‘Daily Programs’ based on the Kololo methods.
Group Learning, Individual Learning, Work-skill Training, Music, Behavior Training

Characteristics of the Course

  • 1.Non-fixed homeroom teacher system to prevent the patterned behavior and recognition towards people seen in children with autism.
  • 2.Individual teaching in a group setting ・・・Help the children with autism be able to follow their group members by using ‘group-response phenomenon’ and show them a clear visual models, in which the children improve their ability to participate in group activities.
  • 3.Acquiring ‘Still and Move’ ・・・ Adjust autistic children’s frequent movement of body parts which is derived from their short behavior rythm into more steady conditions.
  • 4.Flexible Timetable ・・・ Prevent the drop/fall of autistic children’s awareness level by proceeding the program continuously.
  • 5.Encouraging parents as main educator for the children ・・・ Provides home programs for the parents to carry out the adaptability cultivated by Kololo training into real life situations such as at home,school, and community.

School-children’s Course

This course is for the primary 1st graders to senior high school students.


(1)One day per week course(Tue. – Sat.) 14:30 – 16:30
(2)One day per month course(only for the children who have registered/enrolloed in one day per week course more than 3 years.)

Speaking Program, Language concept learning Program, Behavior Training.

Characteristics of Leaning Program

1.Language concept learning Program

Introduce phonetic letters from non-verbal speaking level and lead to verbal speech by using written letters/words as medium.
This program aims at acquiring language in order to establish the common concept of social life.

  • The first stage
    Form learning attitude that can keep focus/concentrate on the tasks by continuouosly presenting interesting
  • The second stage
    Increase the number of written nouns and help realize the phonetic rules of Japanese language. Start speaking training and numeracy at this stage.
  • The third stage
    Introduce reading passages and writing sentences. Present the tasks for answering some simple questions.
  • The fourth stage
    Help learn the common concept of language through teaching conversation patterns, improve voluntary communication,take/start action after thinking, explaining details, providing self-expression tasks.Hand craft(hands and fingers training), Tool-using practice, Sewing, Gardening/Planting, Behavior training.

2.Presenting assignments

Teach parents how to make teaching materials at home, to support the children with autism , and to analyze the problems.

3.Focusing on maintaining basic (learning) attitudes ・・・

Work-skill Training Course

This course is for primary 1st graders to senior high school students.
* Time and Day may differ depending on the schedule of Kololo branches.


Courses varies from once a week course to 4 days a week course.


Hand craft (hands and fingers training), Tool-using, Sewing, Gardening/Planting, Behavior training.

1.Differenciating of body functions and promoting corporative movement of body parts

Establish appropriate working attitude that remain seated for a certaing period of time, promote different use of right and left hands by using tools, improve complex movement/use of fingers.

2.Stabilize behavior rhythm

Provide simple and clear tasks to cultivate/develop purposeful attitude, concentration, sustainability.

3.Work-skill training as language concept learing

Activate/Rivitalize the brain activity by memorizing a certain job/task processes.By obeying/responding to the instructor’s instruction, help improve short-term memory, language memory, and passive attitudes.
